FITNESS PAYS OFF FOR BRADFORD MAN AS HE WINS A MÉGANE COUPE-CABRIOLET

News from THE CO-OPERATIVE MOTOR GROUP RENAULT BRADFORD

For immediate release: September 20th 2011

A fitness fanatic from Thackley said he is still in shock after winning, and then being presented with, a new Renault Mégane Coupé-Cabriolet at Co-op Bradford.
Matthew Connolly won the car, which is worth over £20,000, after completing the Renault Fitness First Member Challenge Competition and undergoing a series of set exercise tasks, before entering his details into a prize draw.
The 46-year-old HGV driver said: “Winning the competition was quite a shock to say the least. I read the letter telling me I had won three times, and it still didn’t sink in.
“My daughter Beky picked it up, read it, and told me it must be a hoax. It wasn’t until my wife, Susan, got back from work that we actually rang the number printed at the top.”
The Renault Fitness First Member Challenge invited people to take part in a series of exercise tasks on their favourite work-out equipment at their Fitness First gym over the summer.
Entrants had to complete 12 out of 14 activities listed as part of the challenge, and then fill in their details to be in with a chance to win a Renault car.
Mr Connolly said winning the Mégane couldn’t have come at a better time, as his current family car is over ten years old, and he had hoped to replace it.
The father-of-two said: “My friends were very surprised when I told them about my amazing win.
“I have never won anything, let alone something as fantastic as a Renault Mégane Coupé-Cabriolet.”
David Freer, Dealer Principal at Co-op Bradford presented Mr Connolly with his new Mégane Coupé-Cabriolet at the dealership on Thornton Road.
He said: “It was a pleasure to hand over the keys to Mr Connolly and see how thrilled he was to win the competition.
“It is an amazing prize and we are glad that Mr Connolly enjoyed taking part in the Fitness First challenge as much as winning the Mégane Coupé-Cabriolet. It is a safe and reliable vehicle that looks great, thanks especially to the 100% glass electric convertible roof.”

RENAULT BIRMINGHAM ENSURE LOCAL FOOTBALLERS ARE KEPT PLAYING THIS SEASON

News from Renault BIrmingham

For immediate release: September 20th, 2011
Renault Birmingham is helping ensure a local football team is kept going in tough economic times by offering ongoing sponsorship and support this year.
Arden Forest Youth first approached the dealership for help two years ago, and have been receiving  support in the form of sponsorship for their kits and tournaments ever since.
Team Assistant Manager, Alan Green, explained how as a self-funding club they don’t know how they would have got through 2011 without the backing of Renault Birmingham staff.
He said: “In the recent tough economic climate, in a recession, we couldn’t have been sure of things without Renault Birmingham being there for us. They have sponsored our football kits and also come and had a presence at our tournaments with their Renault vehicles and Renault banners.
“We really appreciate everything they do for us, having their backing just makes such a difference and really gives us peace of mind.
“The young players really enjoy what they do, so it is important to them that we keep going strong and keep them together as a team.”
The Under 12s team, who are managed by Mark Whitton, most recently held a large tournament in Barrows Lane, Sheldon, in July and Renault Birmingham staff sponsored and attended the event.
Declan O’Grady, General Sales Manager of Renault Birmingham said: “Sponsoring the team is very worthwhile and we get as much enjoyment out of supporting them and watching the games, as they do playing.
“It is important for Renault Birmingham staff to get involved in the local community and also help ensure these young footballers get to do what they enjoy so much. It is a pleasure to be able to help.”

RENAULT SOLIHULL COMES TO THE AID OF WEST MIDLANDS POLICE WITH NEW PATROL CAR

News from RENAULT SOLIHULL

For immediate release: September 20, 2011

Renault Solihull has given officers from West Midlands Police a massive boost when it comes to patrolling the largest exhibition centre in the UK.
The Renault dealership has supplied them with a new Grand Scénic to help them cover the 650 acres of the National Exhibition Centre (NEC) in Birmingham.
The sponsored vehicle will make a huge difference to the officers at the site, as the NEC attracts over 2 million visitors a year and they currently oversee the whole area on foot.
PC Chris Traves, and his colleagues PC Paul Forty and PCSO Andy Burton, will be those benefitting from the vehicle.
PC Traves said: “We can do a lot on foot inside the NEC, but it’s a lot more than just the inside that we need to be able to cover.
“There are thousands of car parking spaces and the surrounding areas are like their own mini villages.
“Just to be able to patrol all those areas quickly and efficiently and to get around in speed will be priceless.
“If we need to get somewhere fast for an emergency then we will be able to do this.
“The car will be a brilliant addition for us and it really is a massive deal because we need to look after such a vast area.”
The NEC is home to 20 exhibition halls and a further 30 car parks around the site, it also stages 125 consumer exhibitions every year.
PC Traves and the other officers also cover the local hotels in the area around the NEC, so the Grand Scénic will enable them to visit those easily.
Local police stations are several miles away from the centre, which can take a long time to reach on foot, but minutes in a car.
PC Traves said: “We really are chuffed to bits, very excited about getting the car and even more excited about using it for the first time.
“A car is something that is pretty essential to our jobs here so we are thrilled that Renault Solihull has offered to help like this.”
Renault Solihull has embarked on an initial 12 month loan agreement with the police, with a view to a long-term partnership in future.
Chris Avery, General Manager of Renault Solihull said: “It is so important for the officers at the NEC to have access to a vehicle.
The Grand Scénic is stylish, practical and with seven seats and a large boot, has a great deal of room inside.
“We are very glad to be supplying them with the Grand Scénic and hope it helps make their job that much easier in such a busy environment.”

AFC CANNOCK TOWN BOYS CELEBRATE THEIR NEW KIT THANKS TO RENAULT CANNOCK

NEWS FROM RENAULT CANNOCK

For immediate release: 16th September 2011

Young footballers have been given a chance to wear their team name with pride thanks to sponsorship from Renault Cannock.
The AFC Cannock Town Boys under 10s have had their kit paid for by the dealership, something the self-funding club would not have been able to afford otherwise.
Coach Ben Round said the help from Renault Cannock meant a great deal to the players, who felt more united and part of a successful team when playing in their new football shirts.
He said: “We have a vision for our club and what we want the players to achieve, so it felt right to approach a successful and well-respected local business like Renault Cannock, to help with sponsorship.
“Without the sponsorship, some of the players would not have been able to afford to pay for the kit.
“The boys are growing all the time and the clothing gets worn, If Renault Cannock hadn’t agreed to help then we would have been wearing the same kits we had before, much of which doesn’t fit.”
Ben, who shares the role of coach with Paddy Birch, said the sportswear provided by Renault Cannock was of the highest quality and is specially designed to remove sweat from the players’ skin during an energetic match.
AFC Cannock Town Boys team has been very successful since its formation three years ago, most recently winning the Lichfield League Shield and finishing top of the Lichfield division two league.
Ben explained that scouts from Stoke City and West Bromwich Albion had seen the team in action and four players were now attending their premiership academies for development coaching.
Ian Smith, Sales Manager at Renault Cannock said: “We wanted to help AFC Cannock Town Boys be the best they can, and we are proud to sponsor their kit.
“They are all so passionate about the sport they play and it is fantastic to know that Renault Cannock is helping them achieve their ambitions.”
Anyone interested in joining the team or with any questions, can visit www.afccannocktownboys.co.uk or email Ben at ben.roundy10@gmail.com to find out more.
