Renault Cardiff has helped make history by becoming one of the first Renault dealerships offering a full range of services for electric vehicle customers.
Anyone visiting the Penarth Road showroom can now find out more about the new Kangoo Van Z.E., place an order or pick the brains of on-site electric vehicle expert, John Coates.
The greatly-anticipated Kangoo Van Z.E recently scooped the International Van of the Year 2012 title and What Van? Magazine’s top prize, and is the world’s first electric light commercial vehicle (LCV) produced by a mass market manufacturer.
New Car Sales Executive, John, underwent a comprehensive and specialist training programme to fulfil his role as an expert.
He said: “We are extremely proud to be among the first dealerships providing an electric vehicle service, and I am here for customers that want to come into the showroom and find out more.
“The sort of things I can help with include advice for anybody thinking about buying a Kangoo Van Z.E. and how it could benefit their lives and their business.
“The kind of details they might want to find out about include the monthly battery hire plans to reduce concern over replacement costs and operation guarantees.
“I can judge if someone is a potential and suitable owner, as the van is not for everybody.
“It might be that a customer is more suited to another car from the Renault electric vehicle range and should look into a different model as they become available.”
There are currently twenty one dealerships that have invested in the infrastructure to allow them to showcase the Kangoo Van Z.E.
Staff at each of these dealers have undergone specialist preparation and technical training to address the demands of the new technology.
Renault Cardiff, like the other dealerships, has been fitted with new charging points with provider British Gas – one for the workshop and one for the car park. There will also be a charging point in the showroom to provide demonstrations to customers.
The Kangoo Van Z.E. starts at just £16,990 excluding VAT, with monthly battery hire from £60 (6,000 miles annual mileage over 3 years), and following the recent government announcement that the electric vehicle grant is now extended to include vans customers can now buy the standard version for as little as £13,592 excluding VAT and delivery. Leasing rates are available from £424.59 per month with battery life guarantee, roadside assistance and 100,000 mile warranty.
