GRANDFATHER WINS A RENAULT GRAND MODUS IN TIME FOR CHRISTMAS VISITS TO FAMILY

NEWS FROM RENAULT DEALER DSG MORECAMBE

For immediate release:  Monday, 21st November 2011

The proud winner of a brand new Renault Grand Modus said he will use his prize to ‘help Father Christmas’ take presents to his family in Scotland this year.
John Lomax from Beetham, near Kendal, picked up the keys to his new car from Renault dealer DSG Morecambe, after winning a competition run by the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS).
Mr Lomax, a retired head teacher, said he was very excited about using the car, which he would be driving up to visit his daughters in Edinburgh and Lauder, on the Scottish borders, over the festive season.
He said: “I am sure I will take it for a few spins and to show friends beforehand, but the first major journey I take it on will be to Scotland at Christmas.
“I am busy helping Father Christmas this year and I have made a rocking horse on his behalf for my grandchildren, so I will be taking that in the Grand Modus for him.”
The competition Mr Lomax won was called Renault’s Eco Key Quest and was held to mark the 21st anniversary of RHS garden, Rosemoor, in Devon.
He and three other finalists were taken to Rosemoor in August and given a set of challenges based on a VIP tour of the garden, the environment and the Grand Modus, before identifying herbs by their scent.
Mr Lomax and another contestant gained the most points and were asked to pick car keys from a plant pot to see which pair opened the Renault Grand Modus and determined the winner.
As well as winning the car, Mr Lomax was treated to an all-expenses paid weekend in Devon with his fellow contestants for the event.
He said: “I really couldn’t believe it when I realised I had won the Grand Modus because the whole weekend away and meeting the other contestants was so fantastic that it felt like a prize in itself.
“I have told a few close friends and family about winning the car and they have all said that it’s just so nice to hear some really good news, and to hear of someone winning something so amazing.”
Mr Lomax was presented with his new car keys by Adam Stark at DSG Morecambe in Fellgate.
Adam said: “The Grand Modus is an amazing prize and we were very proud to hand over the keys to Mr Lomax.
“This is a car that offers versatility, style and space and we hope Mr Lomax will be very happy with it and enjoys his drive up to Scotland for Christmas.
“The Grand Modus has been awarded ‘best small MPV’ in Green Car Awards for three years running now, so it is the perfect choice for environmentally conscious customers.”
