GRANDFATHER WINS A RENAULT GRAND MODUS IN TIME FOR CHRISTMAS VISITS TO FAMILY

NEWS FROM RENAULT DEALER DSG MORECAMBE

For immediate release:  Monday, 21st November 2011

The proud winner of a brand new Renault Grand Modus said he will use his prize to ‘help Father Christmas’ take presents to his family in Scotland this year.
John Lomax from Beetham, near Kendal, picked up the keys to his new car from Renault dealer DSG Morecambe, after winning a competition run by the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS).
Mr Lomax, a retired head teacher, said he was very excited about using the car, which he would be driving up to visit his daughters in Edinburgh and Lauder, on the Scottish borders, over the festive season.
He said: “I am sure I will take it for a few spins and to show friends beforehand, but the first major journey I take it on will be to Scotland at Christmas.
“I am busy helping Father Christmas this year and I have made a rocking horse on his behalf for my grandchildren, so I will be taking that in the Grand Modus for him.”
The competition Mr Lomax won was called Renault’s Eco Key Quest and was held to mark the 21st anniversary of RHS garden, Rosemoor, in Devon.
He and three other finalists were taken to Rosemoor in August and given a set of challenges based on a VIP tour of the garden, the environment and the Grand Modus, before identifying herbs by their scent.
Mr Lomax and another contestant gained the most points and were asked to pick car keys from a plant pot to see which pair opened the Renault Grand Modus and determined the winner.
As well as winning the car, Mr Lomax was treated to an all-expenses paid weekend in Devon with his fellow contestants for the event.
He said: “I really couldn’t believe it when I realised I had won the Grand Modus because the whole weekend away and meeting the other contestants was so fantastic that it felt like a prize in itself.
“I have told a few close friends and family about winning the car and they have all said that it’s just so nice to hear some really good news, and to hear of someone winning something so amazing.”
Mr Lomax was presented with his new car keys by Adam Stark at DSG Morecambe in Fellgate.
Adam said: “The Grand Modus is an amazing prize and we were very proud to hand over the keys to Mr Lomax.
“This is a car that offers versatility, style and space and we hope Mr Lomax will be very happy with it and enjoys his drive up to Scotland for Christmas.
“The Grand Modus has been awarded ‘best small MPV’ in Green Car Awards for three years running now, so it is the perfect choice for environmentally conscious customers.”

PERTH RENAULT DEALER HELPS DRIVERS STAY SAFE ON THE ROADS THIS WINTER

News from NESS MOTORS PERTH

For immediate release 31st October, 2011

With some forecasters predicting yet another bitterly-cold winter, Renault dealership Ness Motors in Perth is making a timely move the help improve local road safety by offering drivers a range of special winter products and helpful hints.

Last year saw an average temperature of just 2 degrees in Perthshire, and forecasts of snow for the end of 2011 and start of 2012 will mean treacherous driving conditions and a high chance of serious accidents. Just look at the alarming Department of Transport statistics which show drivers are five times more likely to skid on ice and snow-covered roads than in the dry.

Ness Motors wants to make sure its Renault customers and all local drivers take every precaution necessary when facing winter road conditions over the coming months. The dealership in Dunkeld Road, is offering a winter health check for just £9.95, which includes an inspection of tyres, lights, windscreen wipers, the car battery and oil levels. These are all essential areas to have in top condition on your car or van before driving in the winter cold.

Service Staff can also fit specially-designed winter tyres, with extra grip at low temperatures, for just £79. These tyres could prove vital for safety, as stopping distances are 10 times longer on snow and ice. Winter tyres maintain their tread and improve stability with wider grooves and narrower slits on the edge of the tread area, helping drivers keep control of their vehicle in winter conditions.

The dealership is also selling snow tyre socks which slip over the wheels of a vehicle if it needs more traction, for £59.99. Tyre socks have a coarse outer surface and slip on to the wheels of a car that has become stuck on ice or in a sudden snow fall, enabling it to move off using the extra grip.

“Making sure your car is able to cope with winter roads is vital and something that could save lives” said Chris Rankin, Managing Director of Ness Motors. “We want to make sure our customers and local drivers who call in to the dealership are as safe as possible when they are  driving in Perthshire this winter.

"We just want to let local motorists know they are welcome to come in and ask advice on how to best protect their car from the effects of snow and ice as we have a comprehensive range of equipment and useful products specifically to protect your car, and most importantly, your family.”

RENAULT DEALER CITY MOTORS SPONSORS OLD REDCLIFFIANS RUGBY CLUB

 News from CITY MOTORS

For immediate release: Monday, 24th October 2011

Hot on the heels of the recent Rugby World Cup, City Motors Renault is getting involved with the sport on a local level.

The Renault dealership has just announced the sponsorship of Old Redcliffians Rugby Football Club which caters for all ages and has teams for men, women and children.

Their first XV side has risen quickly through the ranks and now plays in National League 3. However, despite this success, the club, which has its roots in St Mary Redcliffe School, prides itself on being fully-inclusive, meaning that anyone who wants to get involved is free to come and play.

The dealership is sponsoring the formal team shirts, goal posts, and boards around the site, and part of the money that has been donated will go towards sponsoring the Somerset Cup for the 2011/2012 season.

The tie-up will also allow  City Motors to display Renault cars at the club on match days and will mean that friends and family of Old Redcliffians will benefit from sales and servicing discounts.

Leanne Sullivan, sales manager at Renault dealer City Motors said: “City Motors is a family-run firm and has always been rightly proud of its links in the community.

“We’re also big sports fans and most of the staff here at the Pioneer Park dealership are very keen on rugby. We’re delighted to have a link with an established local rugby club and wish all of the Old Redcliffians’ teams the best of luck for their future games.”

Paul Box, non-executive director and former chairman of Old Redcliffians, said: “This sponsorship from City Motors will benefit the whole club from allowing us to pay for such things as coaches so we can travel to matches and also will go towards helping children and young people to get involved in a game that teaches them all about respect and discipline.

“Sometimes we’re approached by people who might not be able to afford boots, so this money will help us buy resources for them, and exposes them to a line of teams from juniors all the way up to England players. We’re proud to list a variety of well-known former players such as Gareth Chilcott who started playing for us and have worked their way through to playing for Bath, England and the ultimate UK team the British and  Irish Lions.

“We’d like to thank City Motors for their support as this really will help us to provide the opportunity for players to go all the way to the top.”
