RENAULT DEALER CITY MOTORS SPONSORS OLD REDCLIFFIANS RUGBY CLUB

 News from CITY MOTORS

For immediate release: Monday, 24th October 2011

Hot on the heels of the recent Rugby World Cup, City Motors Renault is getting involved with the sport on a local level.

The Renault dealership has just announced the sponsorship of Old Redcliffians Rugby Football Club which caters for all ages and has teams for men, women and children.

Their first XV side has risen quickly through the ranks and now plays in National League 3. However, despite this success, the club, which has its roots in St Mary Redcliffe School, prides itself on being fully-inclusive, meaning that anyone who wants to get involved is free to come and play.

The dealership is sponsoring the formal team shirts, goal posts, and boards around the site, and part of the money that has been donated will go towards sponsoring the Somerset Cup for the 2011/2012 season.

The tie-up will also allow  City Motors to display Renault cars at the club on match days and will mean that friends and family of Old Redcliffians will benefit from sales and servicing discounts.

Leanne Sullivan, sales manager at Renault dealer City Motors said: “City Motors is a family-run firm and has always been rightly proud of its links in the community.

“We’re also big sports fans and most of the staff here at the Pioneer Park dealership are very keen on rugby. We’re delighted to have a link with an established local rugby club and wish all of the Old Redcliffians’ teams the best of luck for their future games.”

Paul Box, non-executive director and former chairman of Old Redcliffians, said: “This sponsorship from City Motors will benefit the whole club from allowing us to pay for such things as coaches so we can travel to matches and also will go towards helping children and young people to get involved in a game that teaches them all about respect and discipline.

“Sometimes we’re approached by people who might not be able to afford boots, so this money will help us buy resources for them, and exposes them to a line of teams from juniors all the way up to England players. We’re proud to list a variety of well-known former players such as Gareth Chilcott who started playing for us and have worked their way through to playing for Bath, England and the ultimate UK team the British and  Irish Lions.

“We’d like to thank City Motors for their support as this really will help us to provide the opportunity for players to go all the way to the top.”
