NEW OWNER FOR RENAULT DEALERSHIP MITCHELLS LOWESTOFT

Renault dealership Mitchells in Lowestoft has entered the latest phase in its history with a new owner this week.

The dealership on Long Road has been bought by current dealer principal Matthew Huke-Jenner from the Pullum family who have run the company since the mid 1960s. Mr Huke-Jenner has been with the company for 24 years after starting his career there as a trainee sales executive.

The company itself was started before the Second World War at Pakefield, taking on the Renault franchise in 1974 and moving to its present location in 1979.

Last year, the site underwent extensive refurbishment which made it bigger with more parking for customers and a fresh new look.

Mr Huke-Jenner said: “We’re delighted that Lee Pullum and his family remain on the board and as a vital part of the running of Mitchells. It’s a pleasure to play a part in the continued success of this family business which owes its longevity to strong community ties and the customer service ethos.”

A commitment to the highest levels of customer service has seen Louth Renault dealer John Pocklington Ltd receive an international award from Renault.

The Renault Global Quality Award is awarded every year by the manufacturer to recognise the dealers in its national network who provide the best customer service and commit to the highest standards in quality, and comes at the same time that Pocklingtons is celebrating its 50th year with Renault.

Four Renault dealerships in the UK have received the Global Quality award this year, including Pocklingtons, which were all recognised for their ongoing commitment to customer service.

Michael Loveday, Director at Pocklingtons, attended the Renault Global Quality Award gala presentation event in Paris. He was then presented with a winner's plaque, champagne and a financial reward for a dealer team night out by Mark Crockett, Renault Director, Services and Quality, who visited the showroom on North Holme Road this week in order to personally congratulate the dealership staff and to present them with an award to commemorate the 50th anniversary of being a Renault dealer.

The event was also attended by Louth Deputy Mayor Trevor Marriss as well as long-serving Pocklingtons employee Mick Allett who is set to retire this Christmas having started work as a technician in 1962, the year after the dealership opened.

Mr Crockett also officially opened the newly-refurbished showroom which now sees the dealership meet the exacting criteria of Renault’s latest corporate standards called “Project AIR”.

Mr Loveday said: “We’re currently celebrating our 50th anniversary as a Renault dealer and are proud to unveil our brand new-look dealership after a major customer experience enhancing site facelift over the summer, so to also receive the Renault Global Quality Award really is the icing on the cake.  The whole team here works extremely hard ensuring that our customers receive the very best service, and we’re thrilled to receive the Renault Global Quality Award.

“It recognises Pocklingtons’ consistently high standards of customer service across sales and aftersales and also rewards the whole team’s contribution to our performance and results.”

RENAULT WIRRAL AND MERSEYSIDE POLICE SUCCESSFULLY EDUCATE DRIVERS ABOUT DANGERS ON THE ROAD

News from Renault WIRRAL

For Release: August 23, 2011

Renault Wirral and Merseyside Police have hailed a day aimed at tackling serious traffic accidents as a major success.
Officers were lent a Clio Renaultsport 200 by Renault Wirral staff to help educate motorists about the potential hazards and distractions they may face on the road.
They used the vehicle to take their passengers out on short drives and show them hidden dangers and potential distractions.
The important event was part of a Merseyside Police open day held on Sunday, August 21 at Bromborough Police Station.
Paul Mountford, a Sergeant with the Roads Policing Team was behind the initiative and thrilled with the outcome.
He said: “We were so grateful to have the Renault to use for something this important. The turnout was brilliant with a steady stream of people there in the morning and then people queuing up to go out in the car with the officers all afternoon.
“Between us we did about 140 miles throughout the afternoon sessions.”
Specially qualified officers focused on improving the hazard awareness and skills of people attending the event by taking them out for 20 minute drives on local roads.
During these drives, the officers talked about potential hazards on the roads and asked their passengers to try and spot any potential danger, before pointing out what they had noticed themselves.
The officers also educated their passengers about how loud music or tuning a car stereo can decrease concentration.
Sergeant Mountford said: “Little things like changing radio stations can make such a difference if you really think about it.
“In the two or three seconds it takes you to do that, you may have travelled several car lengths without full concentration.
“Our officers were asking people what they could see and spot as a potential hazard, things like other cars, people around, and then pointing out how many more things there were even further ahead.
“This is something we would like to do more of in future and hope to work in partnership with Renault again.”
Renault is well known for safety excellence and runs a global programme aimed at safety for young children, called Safety for All.
Mark Whitaker, General Manager of Renault Wirral said he was very pleased at the outcome and success of the event, especially as it pushed such an important message.
He said: “Renault is very focused on safety, so supporting an event like this was something we were extremely keen to do.
“So many people attended and they learnt some very important lessons from the officers driving the Clio Renaultsport 200, which we were thrilled about and very happy to be part of.”

RENAULT WIRRAL AND MERSEYSIDE POLICE TARGET SERIOUS ROAD ACCIDENTS

News from Renault WIRRAL

For immediate release: 15th August 2011

In a bid to reduce the number of serious road accidents in the area, Renault Wirral has got together with Merseyside Police.
Renault Wirral has stepped in and loaned a brand new Clio Renaultsport 200 to help officers at Bromborough Police Station train local drivers at a driving safety roadshow later this month.
This important event, at the police station on Village Road, will take place on Sunday, August 21 and will move drivers out of the classroom and put them behind the wheel to show first-hand how to drive with safety in mind.
Renault is widely known for leading safety excellence, and specially qualified officers will focus on improving hazard awareness and the skills of the drivers attending the event with the Renault vehicle.
Paul Mountford, a Sergeant with the Roads Policing Team at Merseyside Police said: “We want to get to the root of the problem by targeting the causes of serious accidents from behind the wheel as this will improve hazard awareness.
“People can come along and drive the Renault vehicle with an experienced officer who will teach them to see the potential dangers they may face and show how distractions can interfere with driving.
“The officers are trained to a very high standard and have the right amount of experience to point out things that everyday drivers may not notice. It is all about improving our attitude to driving.”
Sergeant Mountford said he believed many people felt they were experienced drivers just because they had passed their driving test. Others picked up bad habits behind the wheel later in life which the event will highlight and help to correct.
He said: “We will explain how little things like loud music in the car can become a distraction and also point out potential hazards, for example the position and movement of pedestrians”
Renault is committed to safety, and also runs a global programme aimed at educating young people on road safety , called Safety for All.
Mark Whitaker, General Manager of Renault Wirral, said he was very pleased to be supporting such a worthwhile event. “Safety on the road is always a major priority for Renault, as  the large number of models in our range with the maximum five-star EuroNCAP crash testing rating testifies”, he said. “We wanted to do something to help improve road safety on the Wirral and believe loaning a Clio Renaultsport 200 for educating drivers is an opportunity we couldn’t miss for such an important initiative.”

GET SOME VA VA VOOM WITH YOUR 61 PLATE CHANGE THANKS TO RENAULT AND POP SUPERSTAR RIHANNA!

NEWS FROM RENAULT

For immediate release: Tuesday, 9th August 2011

Renault dealer Wellington Motors is gearing up for a hot summer showcase of its cars with fantastic savings and a big dose of Va Va Voom in the run-up to September’s plate change.

September 1st sees the very first “61” plate cars heading out onto the region’s roads and Renault has extra Va Va Voom thanks to a number of fabulous competitions.

There’s the chance to win VIP tickets to one of nine concerts on Rihanna’s  “Loud Tour powered by Renault Va Va Voom” allowing fans (over the age of 18) to get the very best seats in the house.

Local motorists could also win tickets and merchandise signed by Rihanna by test driving any new Renault car from Wellington Motors where they’ll get a scratchcard. Each one has a unique code which could win a great prize when entered into www.rewardsfromrenault.co.uk

As if that weren’t enough, from the 1st September for two weeks, there’s a Va Va Voom voucher that can be downloaded from www.vavavoom.co.uk which gives an additional £200 off the price of a Clio or Mégane (excluding Pzaz).

No need to worry if you’re not a Rihanna fan as Renault’s plate change has something to suit everyone, starting with fantastic customer savings on the Twingo Pzaz 1.2 16V 75  which comes with 4x20W RDS CD MP3 audio system and electric windows, all for £6,795 -  a massive £1,000 saving. There’s also the option of paying for three years’ servicing upfront for just £199.

The limited edition Pzaz range also extends to the Clio and Mégane ranges, with the Clio Pzaz three-door boasting 4x20W CD MP3 player with fingertip control and AUX input and front electric windows, available for just £7,995 – again a saving of £1,000.

The Mégane Hatch Pzaz 1.6 100 comes with 15” ‘Sequence’ wheel trims, 4x 15W radio CD MP3 player with AUX input, ESC (Electronic Stability Control) and is now available with a massive saving of £1,600, making it just £9,995.

For those who want a slice of Renault’s impressive sporting heritage, the Renaultsport range comes with added Va Va Voom. Pop superstar Rihanna has been heading the latest craze, following Thierry Henry and Nicole and Papa, by appearing in Renault’s latest Clio advertising campaign, this time for the Renaultsport 200.

The hot Clio is just one of Renault’s current line-up of hot hatches and takes its place alongside the Twingo Renaultsport 133 and the Mégane Renaultsport models. The Renaultsport range has a huge and loyal fanbase in the Somerset area, and its supporters recently had something to celebrate when the limited edition Mégane Renaultsport 265 demolished the current track record for a front-wheel-drive production car at the Nürburgring’s Nordschleife circuit in Germany.

For those who want the performance of a Renaultsport but on a lower budget, there are new Gordini versions of Twingo, Clio and Wind Roadster. The famous Gordini blue and white stripes reflect Renault’s proud racing heritage and are now available from just £11,600.

Both are available with a 61 plate, with the Renault Wind Roadster coupe-roadster currently enjoying a price reduction of up to £2,215. The entry-level version costs just £12,995 and includes an innovative roof that rotates closed in only 12 seconds.  Not only that, but when the roof is down, thanks to its clever design, the amount of storage space is exactly the same as when the roof is open!

With new taxation rewarding environmentally-conscious drivers, Renault also has the answer for anyone keeping an eye on their wallets as well wanting to reduce their carbon footprint.

Intelligent technology on the Scénic 1.6 dCi 130hp means that the family car emits just 115g/km CO2, together with a fuel-sipping 64.2 mpg. This is thanks to Renault’s new stop and start system as standard, a system which turns the engine off when you don’t need it – such as at traffic lights. Though it turns the engine off, saving you fuel, other functions such as your stereo and air conditioning cleverly stay on.

Likewise, the Clio ‘Eco’ 94g is Renault’s least polluting production diesel car, the UK’s cheapest sub-100 gram car, is capable of achieving an impressive massive 78.4mpg on the combined cycle. It qualifies for zero London Congestion Charge, Vehicle Excise Duty, and for business customers, 100% capital write-down allowance and a benefit-in-kind rating of just 13%.

There’s something for everyone, be it cars or vans, as Renault has also taken the hard work out of time on the road with the new Master Van, Trafic and Kangoo, not to mention the fully-electric Kangoo Van Z.E. (Zero Emission in use) in October.

Michael Finn, Group Managing Director at Wellington Motors, said: “We know that there are lots of Rihanna fans in Wellington who could win some great prizes with us over the plate change!  Local motorists really have plenty of choice when it comes to choosing a new car or van from us. There’s something for everyone, whether you’re tempted by the chic styling, the safety of our cars or the spectacular offers that are available at the moment. Come and see us to put the range to the test.”
