Renault Wirral helped Arrowe Park Golf Club raise money for Claire House Children's Hospice by supporting their Annual Charity Golf Day last weekend.

More than 250 golfers took part in the event at the club’s golf course in Arrowe Park Road with the total amount of cash collected still to be confirmed.

Renault Wirral had several cars from its fantastic wide range on display on Arrowe Park’s putting green where representatives from Claire House held competitions.

The Woodchurch Road-based dealership's After Sales Manager David Howe handed out the prizes which included a TomTom portable GPS car navigation system, a sports jacket and baseball cap.

David said: “We were delighted to help raise money for such a worthwhile cause. The weather was great and it was a fantastic day.”

Renault’s Wind Roadster helped fly the Renault Wirral flag at the ninth annual International Kite Festival over the River Mersey last weekend.

The Woodchurch Road dealership took the £16,000 two-seater roadster along to the two-day event and it was well-received by the more than 10,000 visitors that descended on New Brighton.

The Festival featured international kite flyers from the Far East, Australia and Europe with the conditions perfect on a wet and windy weekend on the Dips overlooking the Mersey Estuary.

There was a variety of spectacular show kites on display, including artistic kites, giant inflatable kites, sports kites and power kites. There was a kite-making workshop for all those have-a-go fliers, a children's funfair, trade stands and a food court.

Renault Wirral General Sales Manager Paul Bradley said: “’The Wind’ could not have been a more appropriate vehicle for Renault Wirral to have taken to the festival because without the wind this event would not have taken off!

“The weather proved to be ideal for the flying of the spectacular kites on display and also for the many spectators at the event with many commenting on our how much they loved our Renault Wind Roadster.”

A new car dealership opening in Winterbourne Abbas is set to serve all of the needs of Renault drivers across Dorset.

Renault Cannock is holding a special Motability Awareness Day at Morrisons in Mill Street on June 24.

The dealership is holding the event to promote Motability,
a leading car scheme for disabled people, which offers those who receive the Higher Rate Mobility Component of the Disability Living Allowance (DLA) or War Pensioners' Mobility Supplement (WPMS) a brand new Renault every three years.

With an extensive range of models available through Motability, Renault Cannock will be showcasing the new Renault Scenic Dynamique TomTom outside the Morrisons supermarket in Cannock, from 9am.

Andrew Taylor has joined Renault dealer East Bilney Garage as the newest member of the sales team.

Andrew, from nearby Mileham, has more than 25 years of experience in the motor trade having started his career after qualifying as a vehicle technician at Norwich City College.

After spending time in workshops, service receptions, parts departments, and even as a valet, Andrew realised quickly that he wanted to work on the sales side and worked his way up to become a sales executive with another manufacturer.

After 25 years, he felt it was time for a change and recently moved to East Bilney. As well as working full-time in sales, Andrew takes a keen interest in the motor trade as he sits on the Norfolk Centre committee of the Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI). This allows him to stay abreast of the latest news in “Continuing Professional Development” for his colleagues and to ensure his own training is up-to-date.

He is also a school governor at his children’s school in nearby Litcham.

He said: “I’m delighted to be working at East Bilney Garage and dealing with the Renault range. I am a huge fan of French cars and am looking forward to meeting new and existing customers.”

FORMER CHIPPING NORTON SCHOOL PUPILS TAKE ON JAYBEE APPRENTICE ROLES


Two former Chipping Norton schoolpupils are proving that apprenticeships are still alive and well in the modern workplace after taking up roles at Jaybee Motors Renault in Banbury.

Ryan Hanks, aged 17, recently started at Jaybee as a parts apprentice while fellow Chipping Norton School alumnus Michael Nurden, aged 20, also from Chipping Norton, has just started his first year as an apprentice technician in the service department.

After leaving school, Ryan worked for another dealership, but moved to Jaybee
to start a three-year course with on-site training and classroom-based instruction delivered by VT Training - the UK’s largest work-based provider of government funded and commercial learning programmes.

His current job sees him working with parts deliveries, sorting out stock and dealing directly with Renault customers.

His colleague Michael left school and took up an apprenticeship in agricultural engineering but came to Jaybee on work experience and was offered a three-year training placement.

Colin Corne, Aftersales and Marketing Director at Jaybee Motors, said: “Staff training is a priority at Jaybee, and we see it as essential in ensuring that we offer our customers the very highest standards of customer care. Investing in apprentices’ training has brought enormous value to businesses such as ours by ensuring a high skill level, productivity and staff retention.”

Renault apprenticeships last three years and combine workshop experience at a Renault dealership with classroom training.

The apprenticeship leads to a National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) Level Three technical certificate that is internationally recognised by the motor industry.

Renault Manchester will be flying the flag for the Cathedral School of St Peter & St John RC Primary at the school’s special ECO-Day next week.

The Mount Street-based school was recently awarded the prestigious Green Flag status in recognition of its work to help the environment which means it is now an accredited Eco-School.

Upon learning of Cathedral School’s achievement, Renault Manchester, in Trinity Way, immediately offered to purchase the flagpole for the big day as part of its continuing support for the local community in Salford.

The Mayor of Salford, Councillor Eric Burgoyne, and the Mayoress will be attending the school’s ECO-Day event on Wednesday, June 15 to officially raise the flag at 2pm after a short speech. 

Cathedral School Head Teacher Margaret O’Brien:  “The School has worked extremely hard in promoting our role as stewards of the planet and how every little bit counts.

“The achievement of Green Flag Status is recognition of the effort everyone has made. We hope the importance of caring for our environment will remain with the children as they go through life.

“The School is very grateful for the assistance received from everyone involved and we thank Renault Manchester for kindly purchasing the flagpole.”

Renault Manchester General Manager Jim Schofield said: “It is really hard to reach these standards so this is an amazing achievement for the Cathedral School.

Two remarkable milestones were marked in a special plaque handover at Renault dealer Charles Hurst in Boucher Road, Belfast this morning.

Charles Hurst originally opened its doors 100 years ago and started to sell Renault cars in 1960, making it one of the longest-running Renault dealerships in the UK and Northern Ireland.

When it started to sell Renault cars, the first ones to leave the showroom included such iconic models as the Renault Floride, famously advertised by Brigitte Bardot, and a deluxe version called the Ondine.

A plaque to celebrate the achievement was handed to Charles Hurst Franchise Director Colin McNab by Renault UK Operations Director Ian Plummer who visited to the dealership to unveil the newly-refurbished showroom. Charles Hurst’s site now meets Renault’s latest state-of-the-art corporate standards called “Project Air” ensuring customers’ needs are catered for and that the environment is as relaxing as possible.

Mr McNab said: “Charles Hurst is putting together a “centenary book” which photos of the major events over the company’s history which is currently being put together. It’s hard to believe we’re celebrating 50 years with Renault this year; a partnership that started in May Street in 1960 and continues today at our main showroom at Boucher Road with branches at Mallusk and Ards.

“It’s a strong and successful partnership that has stood the test of time and this combined with loyal staff and customers has enabled us to grow and develop the franchise through the years.”

PAUL BRADLEY IS NEW GENERAL SALES MANAGER AT RENAULT WIRRAL

Keen marathon runner Paul Bradley has taken over as the new general sales manager at Renault Wirral.

Paul has worked at the Renault Retail Group for 14 years, mostly as the business manager at Renault Liverpool, but will now be responsible for both the sales of new and used cars at Wirral.

Since moving to the Woodchurch Road dealership, Paul is now just a five-minute drive from his home in Bebington, where he lives with his wife and two children.

Paul enjoys running in his spare time and last year ran the London Marathon in a fantastic three hours, 59 minutes and 18 seconds.

He has also run several half marathons, regularly raising money for Claire House Children's Hospice, the Jellybean Kids' Appeal and the Northern Lights Children's Charity, which was formed to raise funds to give seriously ill children the chance to go to Lapland at Christmas.

Paul became involved with the charity after experiencing the magic of Lapland with his own family.

His move to Renault Wirral means Paul will work with Mark Whitaker, the new General Manager, and recently appointed After-Sales Manager Dave Howe, who he previously worked with at Renault Liverpool.

Speaking of his appointment at Renault Wirral, Paul said: "I’m looking forward to working with Mark and drawing on his experience and also working with Dave again and building on the relationship we forged at Liverpool.

“We have a very experienced and dedicated staff at Renault Wirral and I believe we will continue to offer a fantastic service to our customers.”
