For immediate release: Wednesday 1st June, 2011

Four windswept employees from Renault Wirral raised more than £800 for charity after battling against the elements at the annual Wirral Coastal Walk.
The blustery weather failed to stop Shelly McDonald, Anita Sheard, Carole Burns and Steve Pouncey from taking part in the 15-mile fundraising walk around the borough’s coastline which attracted thousands of people for the 25th year running.
Carole, sales administrator at the dual dealership on Woodchurch Road, Prenton, and Anita and Shelly, who both work in the service departments, together with their friend Dawn raised £390 for the Claire House Children Hospice in Clatterbridge. Steve, who works as a technician and walked along with his wife, Angie, raised just over £400 for St Johns Hospice in Wirral.
The walk started at Seacombe Ferry and took in New Brighton, Leasowe, Meols, Hoylake, West Kirby and Caldy before finishing at Thurstaston Country Park.
Renault Wirral General Manager Mark Whitaker said: “I’ve very proud of the staff members who took part in the Wirral Coast Walk. They tell me it was very gruelling because of the strong winds but worth it for such deserving causes.”
