STAFF GIVE PAT ON THE BACK FOR 20 YEARS’ SERVICE AT MITCHELLS

NEWS FROM MITCHELLS

For immediate release: Monday, 3rd October 2011

A surprise presentation awaited a staff member at Mitchells Lowestoft who is retiring after 22 and a half years at the Long Road Renault dealership and an incredible 50 years in the motor trade.

Pat Smith has been working in the motor trade, primarily in the parts industry, since she left school at the age of 15.  She started work at Mitchells 22 years ago as a service receptionist, moving across into the warranty administration department.

She started work there in March 1989, just before the launch of the first generation Renault Clio and leaves her post today.

She said: “I’ve got mixed emotions today but will miss the staff and customers here at Mitchells.”

She’ll now be able to spend more time on her hobby of music, playing organ, piano and keyboards. In fact, she showcased her talent to customers in the showroom at various Renault launches throughout her career.

Her boss Matthew Huke-Jenner presented her with flowers and an engraved silver photo frame, while her colleagues gave her jewellery as a farewell gift. He said: “It’s very sad to see Pat go. She’s been a loyal team member and has been very popular with customers who always ask after her.

“Working in one job for such a long length of time is very rare these days so we wanted to show our appreciation for her dedication and loyalty.  She is a much-loved and well-respected member of our dedicated team of staff and we’d like to take wish her all the best for her hard-earned retirement.”
